This book reads like a classic whodunit and is full of fun surprises. It's written in first person so you become part of the story and the short chapters make it a quick escape. I enjoyed the feeling of not knowing what was real and putting the puzzle pieces of the mystery together. This would make a great movie and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is a fun story that's faced paced with excellent suspenseful twists. It is story/action driven, placing the characters on the back burner. I was guessing to the end and loved it.

This drew me in quickly with the short exciting chapters. Then the pace slowed down considerably and the actions of the main character became repetitive and sometimes a bit silly. There were plenty of twists and red herrings that kept me going. I was intrigued throughout and curious as to how this would wrap up. Overall, I enjoyed the conclusion and would look forward to reading more from this author.
4/5 stars! This is my first book by author Danielle Wong and I really enjoyed the twists and suspense elements. The time-hopping didn't bother me as much as it seems like it did some readers, but I also have a psychology background. I was fascinated by the concept of 'experiments' taking place and read the book in two sittings. The only part that kept this from being a 5-star read, is that when she does get her memories back, the author didn't do a great job of showing grief towards another killed-off character. I also figured off the final twist a few chapters prior. But overall, a strong story and I look forward to reading more by this author.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I read this book as a Netgalley ARC.
From beginning to end your head will spin, you'll second guess every twist, and you'll be wrong about how it ends.
An absolute must read!
You read the blurb & think -oh another amnesia story. But let me tell you, this one will take you on a wild ride. This brilliant twisted nail-biter is worth the read!!

What a roller coaster this novel was! Follow Vonny as she tries to recover her memory after a car accident. This book drew me in right away and I was on the edge of my seat as I anxiously tried to find out what was going on in Vonny's life. I had total sympathy for the main character and kept imagining myself in her situation. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was unpredictable and engaging.
LAST LIAR STANDING by Danielle M. Wong is a ‘richly’ drawn story of one woman’s fight to survive.
When Veronica “Vonny” Kwan awakes in a Nevada hospital after being hit by a car, she has lost nine years of her life. The only person from her past that she seems to remember is her college roommate, and BFF, Abby Knowles, who apparently never wants to hear from her again. Bonnie returns home to a palatial house that is so far beyond her wildest imagination and a murdered husband. While the police search for clues in who ended her husbands life, she is searching for clues about her own life. Told in dual timelines we learn of her mentor and favorite teacher, Cheryl Lewis, and the relationship they developed over the years.
While her brother-in-law is attempting to make good on a fraudulent will, her attorney and chief financial advisor seems to be helping her try to put her life back together. But all is not what it seems and not everyone is there to give help, but rather to take.
I really enjoyed the story and the writing style leads to a smooth, fun read. Ms. Wong’s descriptive style had me peeking around corners and wondering if I needed mental health care myself. This is my first book by the author, however, she will certainly be an author I watch in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and read Red Adept Publishing for this ARC opportunity. All opinions are my own and given voluntarily.
Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for allowing me to read Last Liar Standing. What a thrill ride! Woman on the run from unknown treat is hit and wakes up in hospital with no memory of the last 10 years. Who can she trust? Great work.
A hit and run, Connie can’t remember the former nine years of her life or her marriage. She spends the novel putting small pieces together only to realize there were many lies in her life.
Last Lair Standing by Danielle M. Wong is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! There's something about thriller books that is based around a character with amnesia that I find the most suspenseful. Waking in a hospital with no clue why would be alarming to me from the jump, but then detectives walk in to tell you your spouse has been murdered?!?!? Come on! I get chilly bumps just thinking about it!
The book was very well written and to me the pace was fast. Each chapter was written to keep you turning each page wanting more! If this is your type of thrill, you definitely need to check out this book!
I love a good amnesia read, it’s often replicated a subject so it’s interesting to see how authors bring a freshness to the subject. This was a good read, I thought I had if figured out at times but I was wrong!! Taught and twisty, I really enjoyed it.
Liked the unreliable narrator with several mini-reveals mid way and really didn't see the end coming.
I really enjoyed this amnesia trope thriller! Vinny wakes up in a hospital and has no memory of the past 9 years of her life. What follows is a ride full of twists and Vinny fights to recover her memory and figure out who murdered her husband.
The writing was sooo intense! I found myself engrossed in the storyline and on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen. Wong did a great job keeping me entertained and guessing the whole way through.
This story was told in dual timelines, which I love. There was good background information as well as great character development. Vonny was an unreliable narrator, and I enjoyed trying to figure out what was true and what wasn’t.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
