The characters are not stereotypical with exciting good guy/bad buy encounters, and the archaeology backstory is intriguing and gripping. It was a swift, entertaining, suspenseful thriller and I enjoyed it. The end of this book will catch you way off guard. It is a twisted ending!

Fast paced, action packed and entertaining. It was a well plotted and tightly knitted story featuring a cast of well done characters

This book makes me think of Indiana Jones teaming up with Jack Reecher in Cambodia and a crazy adventure unfolds.

Boran’s best friend, Thomas, is kidnapped due to his archaeological expertise. Boran, former CIA, is determined to rescue him. Can Boran save Thomas before he is no longer any use to his kidnappers?

This book transported me to Cambodia. It was like I felt the heat and could smell the local air and taste the food. The author does a fantastic job immersing the reader into the scene.

As a lover of history and archaeology, I was captivated by the story. I wanted to know what artifacts were found and their role in history. I also didn’t want any historical site or artifacts to be destroyed, ruined, or sold illegally because it truly is devastating to a culture when that happens.

The action, suspense, and corruption will keep you engaged in the story by wanting to find out what happens next. The story will sometimes flash back in time to provide tiny clues or context to the reader, which I always enjoy. With the way the book ended, I also see this easily becoming an addictive series.

The Cambodian jungle, a a place where our main character Boran finds himself in while investigating some shady art dealings and a kidnapping. This is a fast paced book and story and one that will keep you guessing. The descriptiveness was enough to take you to this steamy, hot place but was not overly descriptive (which always leaves me bored). The characters are well suited to this story and art aspect is interesting and intriguing.

I really enjoyed reading this book as it keep my interest and was full of action and excitement. Having been to Cambodia I could picture some of the settings and felt it was a story well told.

This book was surreal as I was in Cambodia and Thailand while reading this book. It was awesome to tie in what I learned on my trip and understand the book so much better. I was immersed in the book as I was soaking in all the places. My only concern that the book didn’t feel finished. It added more story line and then ended. I hope there is a sequel as Boran was a great character.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me a free copy of this book. I loved it. Because of it's fast paced plot with a young and resourceful spy, because of the setting in South East Asia with extremely detailed descriptions of places, smells, atmosphere and feelings. Because of the many many historically diverse and truly researched back stories of the many characters. I loved that most of the characters had lived through historical traumatic events that shaped their lives yet these events are easily forgotten from the Western memories. I loved that geopolitics were discussed with tact and that current conflictual positions are not shown as black or white issues but shades of grey. I hope this book, while quite entertaining, opens many people's minds to the problem that is artifacts theft and how museums aquire their precious collections. Somehow most of the main characters were young and beautiful or older and in good shape, but at least the female lead, while clumsy, wasn't as helpless as has been described in stereotypical action plots. I loved the chapter from the old roadside vendor's point of view. I hope to read more culturally charged, ethically challenging and action filled stories from this author.

I have been watching a show about artifacts during the evening and reading this book at night. I feel emersed in history. The way artifacts are stolen and sold is so sad. The book follows the stealing and tracking of what happens to one statue. Rough men, apathetic government and police that are easily bribed makes this story fill with twists, turns and wondering who to trust. The story is interesting. I wish it didn't match so closely to the show I am watching about the treasures from another time.

A first book by Caleb Andrew. Placed in Cambodian judge. Bogan Tompkins helps a friend perhaps smuggling out ancient artifacts. While the story has a slow start the action picks up as the author gets into his story. The descriptions are excellent and one has the feeling the author knows what he’s talking about.
A new author of archaeology thriller you might want to pick up and be first. Hope another book is on the way.

If you like Indiana Jones you will love this book. Set in Cambodia and Thailand this is about historic artefacts in this case a very big bronze statue which is being smuggled out of the country by a small group of ex Rhodesian mercenary’s.. Boran an ex CIA agent, his best friend Thomas an ,archeologist and his sister Emma a trainee doctor set about stopping the smugglers. Very well written and most enjoyable.

I love a great mystery that is cloaked in a real world setting that is new to me. Andrew's novel is non stop action combined with an Indiana Jones plot. Well worth the read!!
