Another true delight by Lola. This one is less traumatizing than some of the others (nobody's arm got bitten off after bumping uglies).
It took a while for the Dino content to show up (about halfway) but the backstory was really built up for a novella. You will hate Thad and his million dollar meat necklace (no not a joke).
TW: douche canoes named Thad, "love swamp"
I love these stories. They’re fun, escapist erotica and sometimes that’s just what you need. I loved the holiday twist on this one. It’s like Hallmark but with dinosaurs & sex haha
Holly’s boyfriend is named Thad. Thad is a dickhead, because only dickheads are named Thad. Sorry if you named your kid that, you should know better. Thad is a horrible boyfriend and human. Thankfully Holly lives and world where dinosaurs exist and can talk and do other useful things…
Holly goes home to her Mormon Utah family and their devoutly chaste ways clearly don’t rub off on her bc she turns into a total capital H capital O when she sees her old high school friend, Rocky the Utahraptor and propositions him after like 10 minutes of catching up. Slow down girl, you have a boyfriend, even tho he’s a twat…actually nevermind it’s not cheating if you bang another Kingdom (see also Linnaean hierarchy). And then Rocky uses his 3 foot long tongue to give Holly a prehistoric saliva bath and the term “love swamp” is used to describe Holly’s nether regions and I could never love another book more. Holly then gets stuffed like a Xmas stocking by 12 foot tall Rocky’s giant cocky and it’s all rainbows and pterodactyls till Thad shows up via helicopter after tracking his cheating GF on her phone #notastalker. Nasty break up ensues. Rocky doesn’t shred Thad to pieces unfortunately. True love wins…except in the eyes of the Mormon church who refuses to marry Holly to a dinosaur #bigshocker. I’m enraptured by this raptor love story.

While I would not recommend that my bookstore order this book - I did thoroughly enjoy it. It was a quick and deeply funny read and I will be recommending it to my friends. Can’t wait to read more by this author!
Holly is in an unhappy relationship with Thad, who only seems to care about making money. He’s not the same sweet man she started dating four years ago in college, The final straw is when he chooses to go on a ski trip for a chance to make a deal rather than come home with her for Christmas. On her plane ride home she starts thinking about Rocky, the Utahraptor she had a crush on in high school. When she gets back home they end up reconnecting and have some very steamy sex.
This book was highly entertaining. I enjoyed the word choices, descriptions of the characters, and the entire sex scene. If you're interested in reading about human/dinosaur sex this is definitely a good choice. I only wish it were longer.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.
I am unwell. "Love-swamp".
While the reading experience was 5-stars of full-on snort laughs, the content is.... exactly what you expect. Thankfully, there were no arms being eaten in this one, so extra points for that. Though, the meaty breath does make a return, as well as an introduction to "speed bumps of love".
If you're going to read a questionable holiday novella this year, make it this one. Lola Faust is the real Santa of the season.
Big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a free digital advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
i loved this book. it was like a hallmark movie but instead the love interest is a dinosaur. it was a fun and short read but enjoyable!
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me to review this title in exchange for an honest review.
This isn't my first Lola Faust rodeo. I honestly had an idea what I was getting into when I picked this up and was still pretty surprised.
I really appreciated and was amused by the long list of content warnings at the beginning, a lot of the triggers were a little, specific like cake being on the list, but still it kind of set the tone for the rest of the story.
It was a pretty sweet story to tell you the truth. Kind of a second chance romance of sorts after Holly had spent years with her current boyfriend feeling like she wasn't appreciated. There was a lot of healing taking place and conversations about different religions and how marriage and connection is considered and how it fits in.
All in all if you're looking for something quick and quirky to help fill out your goal for the year. I say pick it up. I'll continue to grab any Lola Faust books that I see because I honestly enjoy the chaos of adding these to my goodreads.
This story had me absolutely cackling! I had such a fun, entertaining time reading it and the out-there aspect just made it even better. I will be thinking about this forever lol. I recommend it if you want a solidly written, intensely comedic plot!
This was the perfect return to your small town and get back together with your high school romance over the holidays story … that just happened to include a utahraptor as the hero!
As always, Lola creates a classic romantic story and inserts her dinosaur heroes in such a way that you just go with it and enjoy the ride!
Did I question the logistics? Of course, I always do! Am I an expert in dinosaur/person relations? Heavens no! Any monster romance, you suspend your belief and fall for the adorable cinnamon roll Dino!
Beyond the monster romance, I loved that there are different elements of comedy throughout that had me literally laughing out loud. And along with that, Lola included plenty of entertaining isms from her heroines at university in Canada.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this quick holiday novella. it was just what I expected and hoped for in a holiday from the one and only Lola Faust!
I can easily recommend grabbing yourself a copy and adding it to your holiday TBR!
Thanks for the eBook review copy- opinions are my own.
Gratitude to NetGalley for the eARC. This is my honest review
Thad, the chad, and Big Thad 🫣😱
Despite an enjoyable ride, the hiccup was Holly's cheating, even if Thad is a Chad.
Some word choices, like "love swamp," raised an eyebrow 😅😅.
Nevertheless, this holiday novella proved to be a fun and quirky quick read.
With the end of the year looming and a great stack of books on my Kindle and Kobo beckoning to finally be read, I was on the train called book slump. Until I saw that Lola Faust had an offering just in time for the holidays.
It should be a truth universally acknowledged that dinosaur erotica will rejuvenate your drive to tackle that TBR.
Main protagonist Holly is in a terrible relationship. In fact, her boyfriend and his family are all fairly toxic. Luckily, Holly makes the decision to go home for Christmas where she reconnects with her high school boyfriend, Rocky, the stunningly charismatic Utahraptor. The sparks fly and I was shipping this relationship with as much passion as I once did for Dylan and Brenda and Joey and Pacey.
If you like Christmas but are tired of the same old Hallmark movies, try a Christmas romance with a dinosaur.

Lola Faust is back with a Christmas story, and here's the list of content warnings:
"Christmas (trees and otherwise), jewelry, Jeff Koontz, coffee, capitalism, generational wealth, management consulting, private equity, Utah, Chicago, Australia, Etsy, antiques, cigars, cottages, mountains, lakes, ducks, fishing, dysfunctional families, functional families, previous loss of a parent, financial abuse, breakups, dinosaurs, dinosaur sex, feathers, dinosaur feathers, high school, hockey, Canadians, universities, Tinder, alcoholism, food trucks, car dealerships, creepy older men, vintage buses, casseroles, miniature marshmallows, salads (conventional and Midwestern American), salt flats, helicopters, birthday cakes, French press coffee, in-laws (legal and common-law), marriage, organized religion, disorganized religion, Edmund Spenser, E.T., alligators (imagined), water treatment plants, dictation software, nostalgia" (loc. 4)
I'd like to add a few things to the mix:
- Men named Thad
- Casual sexual harassment from men named Thad
- Use of the term "love-swamp"
- Use of the word "moist"
- Incorrect use of the word "querulous"
- Overly inclusive content warnings
- Dinosaur semen
...for a start.
This is easily one of the most conventional romances that Faust has published, as it's basically a tongue-firmly-in-cheek second-chance romance with the minor twist that the hero is a twelve-foot utahraptor. The details are playful—Holly knows Rocky because he was part of a Utahraptor Inclusion pilot program at her high school, which was chosen "mostly because its ceilings were sixteen feet high, which made it more accessible for the dinos" (loc. 169). Meanwhile, Rocky's "convertible" is a VW bus with the top taken off (loc. 284)... It is also way, *way* more tame than, e.g., "Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer", despite the dinosaur semen; while there's probably a thing or two that should land Holly in the ER, she *does* keep all of her limbs, so there's that. (I read a couple of passages out to my s.o., then asked him to Google something for me. He gave me a pained, suspicious look and refused. "It's nothing weird!" I said. "Will you please Google 'Were dinosaurs monogamous'?" After that I got him to Google whether or not utahraptors were monogamous, so it's safe to say that I've used up my let-me-Google-that-for-you goodwill for the month.)
Anyway. The whole thing is ridiculous, I have absolutely lost the plot in terms of how to come up with a coherent rating, and I am entertained.
Still feeling just fine about never having met a dinosaur in real life, though. Ditto for men named Thad.
Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.
I enjoyed this book not my typical read for sure but the writing made it fun and interesting!
Thank to #netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
I’ll admit that I initially thought this was not a real book when I saw the book as an available ARC from NetGalley. I have never seen this genre before, but I don’t know why I doubted it when there are books about werewolves, vampires and even people being involved with spiders! (I can’t imagine!)
The book is a short story with Holy realizing her relationship with wealthy Thad has changed and she has begun to feel alone and that he is consumed with work.
A Christmas approaches, Holly finds out that Thad is ditching her trip back home to have a work trip skiing with potential clients. He gifts her a tacky, expensive necklace and ignores her response to gush about its expense. After a quick dinner with his family, she heads home to Utah to spend the holiday with her dad. Once there she is visited by her high school friend, Rocky, a Utahraptor that she had a crush on.
I won’t spoil the rest of the story, but the author’s descriptors made me laugh out loud, whether they were intended to or not and her description of his body - even self lube producing, that ain’t gonna fit!
You can read the whole story quickly and while I’ll read anything once, I don’t know that I’ll read this type of book again. If you like this genre, it was well written and engaging.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this book. All opinions are my own.
ARC REVIEW: The last thing I expected when I received this holiday story was a steamy story of a Mormon woman and the dinosaur she’s always loved. It was over before I was ready for it to end and left me stunned and impressed at the story. The author is amazing with her words, and I often found myself having to record some of the phrases she used to ping them at my friends to try to get them to read it. It was laugh out loud funny and an entertaining read for a brief holiday love story.
This story temporarily cured my seasonal depression. Although this was a short read, it was very entertaining. I found Holly’s character compelling—coming from an LDS background combined with her open-mindedness. (The existence of the Thads does raise many questions about how the labels were distributed, but I digress). The “spicy” part of the book did have me laughing, I will admit. I do have a vague interest in a sequel.
In no world do I recommend this as a serious read, but if you’re in for a fun story, weird spice, and dinosaurs, it’s a solid read.
Fully went into this not knowing what to expect but it was a joy to read
I’ve seen a couple of Lola’s books about and seen some good reviews for them so when I saw it was on NetGalley I knew I had to pick it up
If you’re looking for a quick, kind of festive, surprisingly cute, dinosaur romance I do recommend
- dinosaur smut??(spice is literally only in one chapter )
- novella
- ‘it’s always been you’ vibes
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the arc- all opinions are my own
Sweet and ridiculous dino x human Hallmark romance, featuring a cornucopia of atrocious Thads.
Yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds, and I was greatly entertained with this very common "girl heads home for Christmas and rekindles some high school feels with a utahraptor" - I know we've all heard this story before!
Rocky and Holly deserve their HEA, and the Thads deserve to be pushed out of their helicopter.
Less spicy than I expected compared to Faust's previous works, but very sweet, plus Rocky asks for consent (A+ for dino consent). There is a touch of religion at the end, but it fits with Holly's conservative Mormon family (who have very little page time anyways).
Look, these are just fun. So much fun. This one is my favorite so far from Lola Faust; it's the classic Hallmark Christmas special reimagined in an infinitely more entertaining way. It's satirical erotica, it's not taking itself seriously, and it's good un-clean Christmas fun. (And the dinosaur love interest is more sweet and respectful than 90% of fictional men)
I love Hallmark Christmas movies, I also love cursed romance novels. So of course I loved the cursed hallmark Christmas romance novel. <3
This one is quite..... different from Faust's other works. This time she focuses more on romance and character-building than just smut. I found myself kicking my feet about a dinosaur falling in love (and then immediately rethinking my life). Say what you want but I think Love Swamp is the FUNNIEST way to describe a vagina. Plus the wedding at the end was SO unexpectedly cute I almost forgot they were Mormons. I wish Rocky ate Thad McJerkface but he's just too much of a gentleman-dino to do that. (though he deserves it).
I also in general love how real the dinos in Faust's works. In this Rocky has feathers and mannerisms that dinosaurs might have had! The Naturalist that I am loves when monster (or dino) romance books are realistic!
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review I always love Lola Faust's works <3
All I Want For Christmas is Utahraptor is not a book, it is an experience. This book was absolutely ridiculous, and I loved every minute of it. Lola Faust doesn't take herself too seriously and lets you laugh at yourself while reading her works. I always have so much fun with her writing. My main critique is that for a Christmas-themed iteration, this book has very little to do with Christmas. The oddly religious turn also seemed out of place - is the Utahraptor also Mormon? Also, there is a continuity error before/after /the scene/. Holly is wearing a dress and leggings before and afterward changed back into her jumpsuit. More generally, Holly and Rocky are described differently from the cover (Rocky, most notably, lacks feathers). Overall, I feel like you know what you're getting yourself into with a book like this, and Lola Faust never disappoints.
There are certain books that change you. Books that make it so that you can never see the world the same way again. Books that, dare I say it, define an entire generation and will be read, remembered, and beloved for centuries to come. *Price & Prejudice. A Tale of Two Cities. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Catch-22. The Lord of the Rings*. And Lola Faust, author of *All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor*, may well have read some of them.
Holly isn’t satisfied. Her big-city finance boyfriend Thad is, in theory, everything a girl could want. He’s rich, handsome, and happy to support “Hottie Holly” in her Etsy business selling upcycled antiques. But he’s also always focused on closing his next major deal, keeping his father’s venture capital empire growing. The love and affection he once showered her with is an ever-more-distant memory.
This comes to a head when Holly goes home to Utah for Christmas, and reconnects with her old high school boyfriend, the 12-foot tall Utahraptor Rocky. And she learns that maybe it’s OK for her to want more. And maybe she even deserves - dare I say it - true love?
Fun and smutty. 9.5/10, almost no notes (Rocky should have been a single dad). Looking forward to the Hallmark TV adaptation starring Lacey Chabert.
Okay, I can explain…I’ve never read anything like this before, and while my first instinct is to say that this follows the plot of a Hallmark Christmas movie — but with a hunky dinosaur love interest — I would have to then admit that I’ve never seen a Hallmark Christmas movie. But I’ve been really busy lately, and I was looking for something short and mindless, and honestly, All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor is not the worst book I’ve ever read, by a long shot. Author Lola Faust (a pseudonym, apparently) doesn’t take the subject matter seriously, this is full on camp — with just the right amount of “follow your heart” and “love is love”, and aren’t those the themes explored in historical pulp fiction? Didn’t they used to write about sexy vampires as code for the queer love they weren't allowed to write about? I might not have gone into this thinking that I was the true target audience, but I was totally entertained…and maybe a tiny bit moved. I recommend this for what it is: short and mindless, some holiday fun.
Am I really giving dinosaur erotica 5 stars? Absolutely I am!
Look, we should know what we are getting into when selecting a title like All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor and we shouldn’t expect Tudor Renaissance poetry but Lola Faust delivered it all the same.
What can I say? I’m here for it. I don’t even mind the usage of the term love-swamp. In this instance life… and love… finds a way.
Thank you to BooksGoSocial for providing the ARC for review
honestly the majority of the cast being mormon was wayyyy more offputting than the fact that the love interest is literally a dinosaur
(i had the netgalley tab open for So Long before finally deciding to just go for it in the final hours of christmas day. zero regrets, this was fun)
the worldbuilding in this story was surprising in its detail, i wasn't expecting there to be any explanation as to why a dinosaur just so happens to be a viable love interest but damn if it wasn't explained lmao. i had fun reading this! it's not highbrow literature, nor is it trying to be, but anything containing the word 'lickstravaganza' deserves to exist because WHAT A WORD. dino body in relation to hers could've been described more though, really lean into the monsterness of it all!!!!!! the cast being mormons and praising god at every opportunity was weird though. somehow i don't think there's gonna be much overlap in those audiences
Mormon Raptor Romance! I saw this pitch perfect Harlqeuin cover parody and had to read it. I kept reading for the strange world where humans and dinosaurs live in harmony and sometimes mate together; an anti-Jurassic Park. As you’d expect, the steamy discriptions are very amusing, or likely very erotic to some readers.
Of course most of humanity rejects Raptor Romance. They cannot admit the truth: love is love. But I think Holly Hottie and Rocky Raptor prove the bigots wrong.
Lola Faust has published a dozen more dino-romances in case you try this one and find out it’s you need more. A perfect XXXmas read by with an 8.5/10 heat level fireplace.
*BOOK REVIEW*
BOOK: All I Want For Christmas Is Utahraptor
AUTHOR: Lola Faust
PLOT: Holly Grant is in a loveless relationship with her boyfriend, Thad. He's extremely wealthy, but barely shows that he truly cares about her, and he obviously doesn't understand her in ways a boyfriend should understand his girlfriend. Holly decides to go home to spend Christmas with her father, and their family friends in order to get away. during her time home, she reconnects with an old friend from school. When Holly was in high school, her school took part in an exchange student-type program where dinosaurs would attend her school, yes, literal dinosaurs. Her best friend was named Rocky, and she reunited with him while she was in Utah for Christmas. When they reunite, they find themselves falling in love with each other, and things get hot fast! If you're not into reading about relations between dinosaurs and humans, this won't be the book for you. I absolutely loved this book and as weird as it seems, I fell in love with Rocky as well. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd say I fell in love with a dinosaur, but here we are! I definitely plan to read more of Lola's dinosaur romances because this one was such a fun read!
RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
So this novella is an absolute scream, it’s a satire with Rocky the Utahraptor, who can be substituted for a member of any marginalized or disenfranchized group, but he’s not that, he’s absolutely a dinosaur who went to school with Holly 👀
Home in Utah for Christmas (where there’s cake topped with ‘happy birthday, Jesus’ in looping cursive), Holly divests herself of her dopey fiancé, a sad, selfish knucklehead called Thad.
Before that, she has a very loving and moist encounter with Rocky. This steamy moment is surprisingly graphic, a little bit physics-defying, but just hysterical as the author plays with the physicality of 12 foot tall Rocky – gazing at Holly with one eye, fluffing his feathers, soaking her in his thick, sticky fluids…
Anatomy is reminiscent of a 1970s Mills and Boon, “…meat-breath that bathed her face in a delicate mist of saliva”. I was caught between Rocky’s lickstravaganza and pale shaft, and Holly’s love swamp.
After trying my hardest with some dark romance, and accidentally reading some miserable mafia millionaire mantoddlers growling ‘crawl to me’, I couldn’t get enough of respectful Rocky!
This is just so joyful and ridiculous and silly. Happy late Christmas to everyone and to me 😀
Thank you so much NetGalley and the author for the ARC.
All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor by Lola Faust is a unique and captivating love story that defies all expectations. Holly Grant is trapped in a loveless relationship with Thad, a wealthy and unfeeling man. Her life is perfectly manicured, but her heart longs for an escape. Enter Rocky, a majestic Utahraptor, and Holly's former lover. Their reunion ignites a fiery romance that defies not only the laws of nature but also the conservative norms of Holly's Mormon community.
The story takes place in a snow-dusted hometown, and the festive lights twinkle, adding a magical and romantic element to the story. The love story between Holly and Rocky is passionate and controversial, and the book explores themes of desire and decorum.
The book's unique premise and unexpected love story make it a must-read for romance enthusiasts. The author has done an excellent job of creating a story that is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor is a perfect read for the holiday season, and it will leave you rooting for Holly and Rocky's love story.
Overall, All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor is an unconventional and captivating love story that will leave you questioning the norms of society and what it means to follow your heart. This book is a must read!
Lola Faust and her books have slowly but surely turned into my secret guilty pleasure.
I wish it was socially acceptable to talk about her books at a family gathering at Christmas. I had to attend one just a few days ago and some people were talking about Christmas movies they are watching with their kids and grandkids. Someone mentioned telling their kid about the classic Dickens Christmas story. And then there was I. Not saying a word. Because, umm, well, how do I say that what I did was read a story called All I Want For Christmas is Utahraptor? Seriously. How do I explain that while you all there were busy af watching Home Alone for the gazillionth time, I was reading some dino smut, and yes, it was Christmas-themed, why are you asking?
Ok, back to the book. This was a quick read. A super quick read. I think I was done with it in, like, 20 or 30 minutes. And it is entertaining af.
The dino name is a bit of an extra fun one. Utahraptor. Perfect name for… yeah, the book’s action (lol, and there is quite a lot of action, pun intended!) takes place in Utah.
I keep wondering if it would have made the story a more entertaining one if there were at least a few more pages of the background story how come all the dinos are now human-like, driving and talking, and going to school, but then again – who cares, right? We aren’t here for a science fair, right?
For a moment I was a bit baffled at the language the author chose to use. Some fem body parts were referred to as… love swamp? Was it really a love swamp? But the more I thought of it, the more entertained by it I was.
I’m not sure who do I recommend this book to, but I most definitely do – if that’s your jam, that is. If it isn’t, then I still say grab it and read it, have a glimpse into what someone else is capable of coming up with. Have a laugh. Have a smile. Have a facepalm. Whatever works for you today.
I received All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor in return for an honest review from NetGalley.
Holly's life isn't going as she planned and when her boyfriend is working the holidays she heads home. Upon returning home Holly meets up with her old friend that she had a crush on Rocky and the chemistry is sizzling. As things heat up between the unlikely pair what happens when her boyfriend shows up?
All I want for Christmas is Utahraptor is a sweet very steamy fast paced friends to lovers dino romance. I love that the story is a perfect balance of plot with just the right amount of spice. The characters are engaging and I felt that I was really able to connect with them. I love that Rocky has emotions and is a sentient dino who felt very human aside from the feathers and claws.
I've be seeing this series around for a while and have been on the fence to check it out for a while. When I saw it on NetGalley I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad that I did. I ended up devouring the book in less than an hour and rushing to amazon to grab the rest of the series. I'm excited to explore more of Lola Faust's dino erotic romance.
It's a cute steamy story that hooked my attention right from the start and sparked my imagination. I'm a little obsessed with monster romance and this story doesn't disappointment it's better than I could have expected! I loved every moment of it and can't wait to explore more of her dino romance stories.
I do love my weird books. This was definitely one of them.
Short and sweet and weird. Definitely one to pick up as a palette cleanser between the heavy ones.
Feathered dinos. Gotta love em
I will read anything Lola Faust because the author never disappoints and this one did not! I started reading her books as a dare as "erotica" is not genre I read. When my books buddies suggested her, I kind of rolled my eyes but I thought it has dinosaurs. You are in a for a treat, something special by this author. There is a fine balance of dinosaur and erotica that makes it an enjoyable read that is not to heavy.
I do not delve much into dinosaur erotica however, this was a absolute hoot! I was surprised how entertaining and well-written this book was. You have to be an incredibly creative and imaginative writer to produce something so obscure and bizarre and execute a book this funny and steamy.
The blurb about Devendra Banhart did not hurt my attitude towards this genre. It only gave it a bit more credibility!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
I must say out of all of Lola Faust books I have reviewed, this is by far the tamest.
I enjoy how the smut oddly made sense, and no one lost a limb in passion. I enjoyed the little arms description while describing his saurusness.
These books are highly entertaining and so over the top you cannot help loving them.
There's less gore than other but it's a good dino story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Is this my favorite novella from Lola Faust? No, but I still enjoyed it! Its the hilarious story we love with the dinosaurs her characters love. The human boyfriend's name is THAD. That's all you need to know.
If you like dinosaurs and out-of-this-world, smutty books then Lola Faust is the author for you! Enjoy reading :)
Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC! ♥
This was hilarious - I see lots of reviews judging/grading it on it's "smut" value, but this is supposed to be weird and gross and funny. It is definitely a rip-off of Hallmark movies, and a commentary on the ridiculousness of some of those plots (even before adding dinosaurs).
I wanted a Christmas Monster Smut and I got a Christmas Monster Smut.
It was easy to read for us non English speakers. It had weird spice scenes, which I loved.
And the characters was... really developed and well-written and I didn't expect that xD
I like it a lot
Enjoyment rating: ALL THE STARS!
Spicy rating: .....unclear
Holly is back home in Utah for the holidays, and she finds herself at a turning point in her life. Rocky is her highschool crush, and a Utahraptor. Now that they are back in each other's orbits the sparks start to fly, but can they have the relationship that they want to? Feathers will be ruffled, in more ways than one (har-har), with this transspecies love story!
All I Want for Christmas is Utahraptor had me snort-laughing out loud in public! The reading experience is one that I will never forget! This book was such a joy to read. It was absolutely ridiculous in the best of ways. I mean she gets turned on by his "glorious fount of meat-breath that bathed her face in a delicate mist of saliva." This is just one example of a sentence that will make you find it hard to breath.
This book is so weird, just like her other Dino-human love stories. Be sure to check out her trigger warnings before you read, mostly just because they are also hilarious and contain content warnings about things like "Etsy, ducks, Canadians and casseroles". Just make sure going into this that you are ready for Dino lovemaking shenanigans.
I honestly cannot wait for the next novel. Lola Faust has a way of just continually upping her game with these stories. She goes ALL in and somehow keeps coming up with ways to completely shock me. Her books are an entire experience and give me the best conversation starters!
This was silly and fun and so very strange. It was very religious in tone which I was not expecting. I do have a new favorite word though... "Love swamp". HAHAHA. I laughed so much and had a lot of fun reading it.
4 stars
I can't fathom why this didn't get better reviews, because I was THRILLED to read this and I enjoyed every horrible minute of it. I guess maybe some people wanted it to be a more serious, legitimate monster smut type book, but this is a very short and very funny erotica. I would gladly read everything Faust puts out about dinosaurs. Complaints like "the anatomy is unrealistic" and "the relationship is too fast" don't really matter to me because it's a fucking dinosaur Christmas novella that made me laugh so hard I cried. I gave it 5 stars and I won't ever be ashamed of that. It was sweet, it was cringe, and I am free.
If you are ever in a reading slump, bored, or slightly depressed my advice is to read something like this.. lighthearted and FUN. I find dino erotica weirdly entertaining and humorous.
FMC Holly is in a crappy relationship with Thad (perfect name for him tbh). Thad only cares about is money and success, treating "Hottie Holly" like another object to show off. After being ditched by him, again, Holly decides the relationship isn't working and goes home to Utah, alone, for Christmas with her family.
While at home, Holly meets up with Rocky, a friend from high school who happens to be a Utahraptor. They talk and discover the chemistry they had as teenagers is still there. [Compared to previous works by Faust, the amount of spice in this book is very tame with only one scene between Holly and Rocky.] Dino/Human relationships are taboo, but with the surprising blessing of her family Holly gets a HEA that jerk Thad could never give her.
😕I liked Rocky but didn't feel like I got to see much of his personality shine through in the brief amount of time he's in the story.
😁I did purchase the paperback and was pleasantly surprised parts of Faust's other books were also included after this novella.
Quoteable: "He licked her as if she were the only source of dietary salt within a hundred kilometers."
This is honestly quite charming and sweet! It's rather too short, though, so it feels terribly rushed. I appreciated how awful the ex's family was, in a realistic but crapsack way, and the tenderness of the... okay of the dinosaur.
I have absolutely no idea what I just read or why anyone would write this, but I have to show respect to the author cause reading this was ...... An experience to say the least
Somehow I went into this thinking it would be a full-length novel, but it's really a short story, at only 50 pages. And yet Faust manages to pack a full novel plot into this tiny space.
We follow out heroine Holly, who is engaged to a mercenary, soulless douchebag, as she returns to her hometown for Christmas and reconnects with her childhood sweetheart - who just so happens to be a dinosaur.
I guess the kind of person who would pick up a dinosaur romance/erotica (me) is going in to not so much suspend her disblief as encase it in concrete and dump it into a lake. But even though this was my first Faust, I was surprised how well she actually made it work. I have certainly read my fair share of monster smut, and this was surprisingly sweet - imagine a Hallmark movie where the lead just happens to be a large feathered reptile.
Of course, 42 pages is a pretty confined space to pack an entire movie plot into, so the characters are not terribly developed and there are no wild twists you did not go in expecting to happen. But it delivers on all the necessary points, including a spicy scene which surprisingly was more tasteful than some things I have read as taking place between two humans, and trust me, nothing was greyed out here.
All I Want for Christmas Is Utahraptor sets out to be a fun romp (and it IS funny - just see if the list of trigger warnings won't have you cackling out loud) follwing the archetypical story of the deserving heroine leaving her flawed life behind to find true love, and it fully delivers on that promise.
I was a bit wary of picking up anything by Faust (because I have to admit, dinosaurs and things I find attractive do make for a Venn diagram in which the circles do not touch), but after this I'll definitely be checking out her full-length titles.
I want to thank Lola Faust, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions here expressed are my own.
I mean -- I would recommend you go into this with zero expectations. Full of shenanigans and a glass of alcohol. It was entertaining for sure.
This is my 2nd book by the author. The first being Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer. Just by reading the trigger warnings at the beginning you can tell that this author has a sense of humour. For example some listed are: Etsy, Christmas, jewelry, coffee, cottages, mountains, Canadians, hockey….etc. You get the jist. This was a really fun second chance/friends to lovers. She goes homes for the holidays and reunites with her high school friend Rocky. Who is……..you guessed it a Dinosaur. Short and sweet. Something different to read for the holidays.
Thank you netgalley and Lola Faust for an arc.
Set aside any expectations of reality and you'll enjoy this story of Holly and Rocky the Utahraptor. Lola Faust's Dino erotica are wonderfully ridiculous and a great way to escape into a quick read.

Fun dinosaur romance story. I have enjoyed this author’s Dino romances. A bit silly but fun to read.
I absolutely loved this book. I am a big fan of all the crazy monster romance and this one was the perfect amount of insane to plot
