Irma Lalaurie embodies moral decay and sexual predation. Becoming an unwitting agent in her machinations, Aida explores the brutal reality of a society where individuals are born into roles based on race.
Grappling with questions about her place, Aida sees her own vulnerability and strives for freedom, revealing resilience, maternal instinct, and a determination to defy her fate. Emotions become the source of people’s power, whether it is love, hatred, or fear.
People gain unique abilities reflective of their reputation between the intricate web of the world of Ns. Aida developed the ability to see the negative emotions of others and control them at will based on what her family thinks of her. In the blood-soaked tapestry, against the guards, robots, ghosts, or cyborgs, Aida wields her sword, Graduation, with deadly precision, painting scenes of brutality.

The journey within the pages of this book is a transformative experience, revealing layers of depth and resilience in the characters. It's a celebration of the strength found within, and I appreciate how the narrative explores the characters' determination to be more than what life has handed them. This is a story that beautifully unfolds, encouraging readers to delve into the true magic within themselves. Aida's journey is not just about survival; it's about embracing personal power and evolving into something extraordinary.
The books starts out a bit confusing and slow, but if you can keep going for about 4 chapters, you gain a ton of understanding of the main character: Aida & even her history with her mother and sisters.
The writing is so vivid. The story is so good & I just love how this book is about reclaiming your power through the true magic (Ns) within you. I love how relatable the characters are; their fight to do more then just exist. Aida is more than just a survivor.
She proves to herself that she’s greater & that others will see her that way too. I would definitely read this book again & add this “series” (hopefully) to my favorites.
