Description

Kill Grant Anderson – that was the order Lucas Green received from his client, cartel boss Carlos Guerra. It's a simple command, but Lucas's work is anything but simple. He is a specialist assassin with a unique skill: orchestrating deaths to appear as accidents. Crashed cars, overdoses, and road rage are just a few of the tricks he keeps up his sleeve.

Grant Anderson is new to Las Vegas, but making a fresh start isn't easy when he discovers that everything his Uncle Paul Sherman left him in his will is a disaster. A house piled to the ceiling with trash, a failing real estate business, and the loneliness of being across the country from his entire family make things look bleak for Grant.

Meanwhile, newly minted Las Vegas Detective Tracy Cook launches an off-the-books investigation into her former real estate agent, the recently deceased Paul Sherman. His ties to the cartels are subtle, but she knows they are real, even if no one else believes her. This investigation brings her face to face with Grant Anderson and his new neighbor, Lucas Green.

In this perilous thriller, it's a race against the clock and each other. Who will come out on top – the Detective, the Real Estate Agent, the Assassin, or the Drug Dealer?

How hard can it be to kill a real estate agent? Contract killer Lucas Green is about to find out. Small time real estate agent Grant Anderson is scheduled to get his ticket punched. Some things don’t go as planned though and an inquisitive cop can feel something is out of whack. Lucas needs to pull the stops out to make Grant’s demise look like a fluke. Grant needs to get lucky to keep breathing and Tracy Cook, the intrepid cop, needs a result to keep her boss happy.

This is Vegas after all and there’s no knowing which way the cards will fall.

The Vegas Flop is filled with successful characters. From police detective to real estate agent to bad guys the author, Kyle K. Wolfson makes each character worth the role. The action proceeds nicely and we find that all is not as it appears, which is good, I guess, as killings are prime in people's minds. I enjoyed the story and recommend it to others.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

In the neon-lit heart of Las Vegas, where fortunes are won and lost, Kyle K. Wolfson deals us a hand of suspense, intrigue, and high-stakes danger in his novel, “The Vegas Flop.” With a backdrop as glittering as the Strip itself, this action-packed thriller invites readers to place their bets on a game where the stakes are life and death.

Summary and characters:
Meet Lucas Green, a specialist assassin with a unique talent: orchestrating deaths to appear as accidents. Crashed cars, overdoses, and road rage—these are the tricks up his sleeve. When cartel boss Carlos Guerra orders him to eliminate Grant Anderson, Lucas faces a seemingly straightforward task. But in the labyrinthine world of Las Vegas, nothing is ever simple.

Grant, the unsuspecting target, has just inherited a real estate business from his late Uncle Paul Sherman. Little does he know that Paul’s dealings with the local cartel run deep. As Grant grapples with a house piled high with trash and loneliness far from his family, he becomes entangled in a web of danger.

Enter Detective Tracy Cook, a newly minted Las Vegas detective. She senses the subtle ties between Paul Sherman and the cartels, even if no one else believes her. Her off-the-books investigation leads her straight to Grant and his mysterious neighbor, Lucas Green.

My review:
Wolfson masterfully weaves these characters’ lives together, creating a collision course of competing interests. As the clock ticks, the tension escalates. Who will emerge victorious—the detective, the real estate agent, the assassin, or the drug dealer? In a city where secrets are currency and alliances shift like desert sands, the answer remains uncertain.

The Vegas Flop is a rollercoaster ride through the underbelly of Sin City. Wolfson’s writing crackles with authenticity, and his characters leap off the page. The unconventional premise —a killer who stages accidents—adds a fresh twist to the thriller genre. As the plot unfolds, you’ll find yourself rooting for unlikely heroes and questioning allegiances.

This book was a fun ride from beginning to end. The pacing keeps you hooked, and the twists and turns will leave you breathless. Whether you’re a seasoned gambler or a first-time visitor to Vegas, this novel is a sure bet. Highly recommended for fans of suspense, mystery, and anyone who loves a good gamble.

In The Vegas Flop, the house doesn’t always win. Sometimes, it’s the players who hold all the aces. 🎲
