Description
Four friends.
One tragic death.
20 years of secrets and lies.
One wintery night, when they are young, Anna and her three friends Rudy, Seth, and Dougal are involved in an accident in which a stranger is killed - that night it snows heavily, covering everything up. They agree to keep it a secret, but then one of them is accused of murder and sent to prison.
Twenty years later, Anna and her friends are thrown together again following a funeral, and this time Anna is forced to finally look at what actually happened all those years ago. Anna's recollection, however, is not what her friends remember.
Could she really have been mistaken about what happened?
Will digging up the past reveal a truth she would rather not know?
And what will it mean to her carefully constructed life if the last 20 years has been nothing more than a lie?
Advance Praise
"I cannot recommend this book enough, you won't be able to put it down.
Truth right at the front is always a captivating vehicle to grab attention but how does a writer sustain our interest when what “they did” is positioned with no wriggle room.
Emily Pattullo has accomplished a marvellous artistic feat in capturing her reader to the end with so much skill and the insight of a creator who really knows her subject and players.
Her characters are particularly drawn and the deep miasma of lies and deceptions that surround the incident are woven like gossamer threads that catch everyone where they are in their own webs.
As the snow melts and sound returns so does the bigger truth.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC.
20 Years ago Anna and her three male friends were a closely-knit unit, until one horrible night everything went wrong. One of them was jailed, one left the country and Anna and the other boy don't have contact until 20 years later.
Anna ends up emotionally and physically ill , as well as ending up in hospital. Her parents (horrible people) have totally taken over her life and she did bug me at times for being so meekly trying to please them. Yet I felt sorry for her too.
The ending tells us what and why everything went so wrong. It's a pretty good book, I had a hard time putting it down because I was dying to find about all the secrets and lies.

Emily Pattullo has you sitting on the edge of your seat, with your heart trying to beat its way out of your chest as you read Silent As the Snow. The way Ms. Pattullo brings her characters to life, you feel like your living the story right alongside them, feeling everything they are, as they feel it. There are moments you don't know if you want to be angry or sad, or who you should be feeling what particular feeling towards, because there are are so many different characters that are creating different feelings at the same time. By the time the book ends, you draw a huge sigh of relief, as you realize the characters you've come to respect are at last coming into their own, and the main character is finally able to stand up for herself, which makes you practically want to get up and start cheering. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Pattullo, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books from this particular author.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Silent as the Snow by Emily Pattullo is a twisty psychological thriller with a slow start but really twisty finish. For a while, I wasn't sure where this story was going and everything happened so slowly but somehow it made me fall in love with the characters. And the story pick up the speed and the only question was what the hell happened 20 years ago?
When Anna, Rudy, Seth, and Dougal accidentally kiIIed the stranger they agreed to keep this secret tight. Unfortunitelly things didn't work out as planned, Seth was sentenced for the murder, and the friendship between them was destroyed.
20 years later following Seth's adoptive mother's funeral they find a way to each other and are ready to discover what happened on that dark winter night and who is behind the mystery.
There are characters that you easily love and characters that you hate with a passion. Some twists are unfolded so neatly that you can just breathe through the shock.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this copy!
This book is written in a then/now perspective which I enjoyed as you can see the growth of the characters. Plot was interesting, plenty of plot twists to keep the readers on their toes. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, the only thing I would say is it’s written more in a YA novel vocabulary than an adult book.

BooksGoSocial and Netgalley provided me with a copy of Silent as the Snow for review:
One wintery night, Anna, Rudy, Seth, and Dougal are involved in an accident that results in the death of a stranger - that night, it snows heavily, covering everything up. The two agree to keep it a secret, but then one is convicted of murder.
Almost twenty years later, Anna and her friends are reunited after a funeral, and this time Anna is forced to take a closer look at what actually happened. Anna's recollection. However, Anna's recollection differs from what her friends recall.
Is it really possible that she misunderstood what happened?
What secrets will she discover if she digs up the past?
What will it mean to her carefully constructed life if the past 20 years have been a lie?
I give Silent As Snow four out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
