"One of the most thrilling aspects of this book is how it sheds a glaring light on the toxic masculinity that is usually romanticized through damsel in distress scenarios, when sometimes a person is simply coping with unaddressed and mismanaged trauma.

The story is told in a manner that allows the reader to immerse oneself in the captivating and enthralling events that take place.

Author Kahlani B. Steele masterfully crafts a narrative that balances romance with plenty of focus on psychological depth and suspense.

The author's ability to weave together themes of resilience, self-discovery, and empowerment while maintaining a gripping romantic narrative also keeps readers invested in both the emotional and suspenseful elements of the story in equal measure for a well-balanced read that had me turning pages well into the night.

I always like to see how an author portrays a character that grew up in foster care. I was a foster parent for a year and this subject interests me. I think Steele did the book's MC justice. The story moved at an exciting pace with a lot of action. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
